Over the last number of years Cork Institute of Technology has initiated an awards ceremony to highlight Societies and individual members within Societies who have made an outstanding contribution to extra-curricular life at the Institute. Each year the awards are presented by a known celebrity. Over the years we have had the privilege of inviting guests such as Jim Bartley, Niall Toibin, Ryan Tubridy, Des Bishop, Neil Prendeville, Martin King and Packie O' Callaghan.

Last year the annual Cork Institute of Technology Societies and Activities Awards took place on Tuesday 2nd April in the Oriel House Hotel. In all 10 awards were presented on the night which were as follows; 'Society of the Year', 'Group Achievement Award', 'Best Event', 'Most Improved Society' and 6 Individual Awards. Application forms are available from the Societies Office during March annually (1st Floor of Student Centre).

This year the Awards took place on Monday 22nd March 2010 in the Tourism and Hospitality building. Guest speaker on the night was Mr. John O' Shea from GOAL.
